A Brief Intro to Tempe Fashion Week Models

Updated: Nov 15, 2023

by Alexis Watkins

For the first time ever, Tempe Fashion Week is just around the corner – and with it has come some exciting events. One of them being a private viewing of designer Christine Adar’s recent collections. The designs were hanging on display for guests to see and showcased on models.

One model walking for Adar is 19-year-old Alicia Leal. She is from Phoenix, and Tempe Fashion Week will be the first show she is walking in. Leal was wearing a beautiful golden dress with a scoop neck that stopped just above her knee and black knee-high boots with gold and red detailing. Leal said that she was in school for nursing and is currently taking a gap year because she feels modeling is more of the direction she would like to go in.

Part of the fashion show process includes meetings with the designer and rehearsals. Leal said that preparing for the show has been a lot of hard work and organization but she is “ready to just get out there,” and, “just being here is an honor.”

Another model walking the runway for Adar is Josi Spar. Spar was wearing a black lace dress with bedazzled shoulders, a high neck and a train in the back. Unlike Leal, this is not Spar’s first time walking in a show, she also has walked for New York-based designer Nicole Miller. Spar said that she likes how Adar selects the fabrics herself and for that reason thinks rehearsals are fun.

See Alicia Leal and Josi Spar model Christine Adar’s designs in Tempe Fashion Week on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 5 p.m.
