On Feb. 10, 2019, the 61st Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The night was star-studded and filled with a number of firsts, including Childish Gambino making history by winning both song and record of the year for “This Is America”. Although most viewers watch for performances, some only tune in for infamous red carpet fashion. In case you missed out on the looks of the night, here is a list of my favorite looks of the night.

  BTS

BTS

The South Korean septet showed up to their first Grammy Awards in style, dressed in custom suits from Korean designers. RM, Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, Suga, and V wore JayBaek Couture, while J-Hope donned a suit by designer Kim Seo Ryong. This look juxtaposed what the group has worn in the past to Western award shows. The suits give the group a classy vibe, and fans were delighted to see the members show their Korean pride through their fashion.

Lady Gaga

Like at any other award show, Lady Gaga did not disappoint with her outfits of the night. On the red carpet, Gaga was dressed in Celine by Hedi Slimane, Jimmy Choo shoes, and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. Though some equated her dress to a disco ball, I for one was all for the look. The head-to-toe silver complemented her icy blonde hair, as well as the harmony of texture in both the dress and jewelry. Gaga carried the sparkle and texture theme in her performance outfit, and all I can say is now I need to purchase a studded jumpsuit.

Bebe Rexha

In the past, Rexha has expressed her struggles in finding designers who were willing to dress her for award shows, saying some would not since she is “a size 8.” Despite this, Rexha rocked the red carpet in her Monsoori dress and something about it reminded me of a Disney Princess. The red tulle gown not only worked so well with her subtle makeup and hair choice. She carried this color throughout the festivities of weekend, sporting August Getty designs in the shade. Rexha also managed to match the red carpet, and I do not know if she intentionally planned this, but if she did, well played Bebe, well played.

Jennifer Lopez

Jenny from the Block has done it again! Lopez wore Ralph & Russo and a Judith Leiber Couture bag and the look definitely made a statement. Though she has experimented with different styles in the past, Lopez looked more avant garde than usual. The wide-brimmed hat was reminiscent of silhouettes created by Lady Gaga in her “Joanne” era, as well as Beyonce during “Lemonade.” Lopez kept it simple with jewelry and other accessories to play off the intricate beading of her gown.

Dua Lipa

Lipa had an amazing night and shined like a diamond; she won Best New Artist and absolutely crushed the red carpet with her Versace gown. She mixed the textures of silky gray fabric and dazzling jewels and stones. She kept her hair and makeup simple and this complemented the volume of the dress. The long silk train left me speechless and the billowing material contrasted the hourglass silhouette of the rest of the dress.
