At Scottsdale Fashion Week: Couture Night, there was no room to disappoint, from the red carpet to the phenomenal runway show, to the one and only, Bach Mai — it truly was a fashion show to remember.
Featured in publications like Vogue, WWD, and Mission, Bach Mai had just flown in from NYFW where he showcased his Spring 2024 Ready-To-Wear collection.
Raised in Texas, Mai studied Fashion Design at Parsons School of Design in New York City. He later received his master’s in fashion design at the Institut Français de la Mode. Mai is best known for his ready-to-wear and made-to-order collections that showcase femininity in its boldest form.
The show, hosted at Mercedes-Benz of Scottsdale, presented a red carpet where guests could mingle, as well as an abundance of booths and activities.
The event boasted activations such as The Lip Chicks, a lipstick print reading service, and Truly Blessed Jewels, a luxurious permanent jewelry company. Other activities included photo booths and a build-your-own bouquet table. Live DJ, Natty Rico captivated the attention of the audience with his flawless saxophone performance.
The most appealing booth was run by Loretta Tedeschi-Cuoco, a fashion illustrator. Her live sketching was captivating as she flawlessly captured the details of Bach Mai’s most glorified designs.
Featuring 20 looks, Bach Mai encapsulated femininity as his signature “drop waist” look spilled over the runway. The chiffon and silks used in his design glistened as each model effortlessly made its way down the catwalk.
This show promoted new and past looks, from his Resort 23, “A Flower Walk” and “Collection 0”. With Oblivion By Grimes playing subtly in the background, the soft feminine beats emulated the rich flows and movements of his layered gowns.
One look from the night, “Acid”, uses silk charmeuse and a draped look that softly compliments the model's back.
Another look, titled “Violet”, from Mai’s Resort 2023 collection, called attention to the floral motifs; hand-painted on moiré volant fabric. The piece was accompanied by a Deep-V bustier and Mai’s signature drop-waist silhouette.
“Berry” was another featured piece, this one from his Flower Walk collection, which debuted in 2022. This raw-edged silk chiffon dress features a mille-feuille embroidery. The light layers of the embroidery create a full look which enhances the silhouette and volume of the gown.
What a night for you to remember Giovanna! So proud of you!
