Basstrack at Phoenix Raceway: The New Raver’s Guide

Updated: Oct 31, 2023

By Shi Bradley

Rave culture has been around for decades, but in 2023 the loud music, flashing lasers and lights, elaborate outfits, and PLUR — peace, love, unity, and respect — culture is more mainstream than ever.

If you live in Arizona and are a big EDM fan or are looking to explore rave culture for the first time, there are a few big EDM festivals to check out and one of the most popular in the Valley is Basstrack, coming to Phoenix Raceway from September 2nd to the 4th. At a venue that holds over 42,000 people, the Basstrack festival will be the perfect opportunity for new ravers and EDM fans to take in the awe and electricity of Arizona’s rave culture.

This year, Basstrack has collaborated with Canadian DJ Excision, as well as a lineup of many other popular DJs, including Wooli, PhaseOne, and Adventure Club.

Here are five things you need to know about attending this year’s Basstrack festival and some things you should know about raving in general:

  1. The two-day festival is going to be headlined by Excision

Jeff Abel, famously known as Excision, is a DJ who has amassed over 2 billion streams across all popular music platforms. He’s known for his bassy tracks like “Feel Something” and “Don’t Look Down”, which highlight his signature style. Excision is currently on his summer tour consisting of both concert venues and festivals, which will continue at Basstrack this year.

  1. Just like the band’s name, the show is cutting-edge

According to Excision, his stage name comes from the idea that his music is brutal and piercing and his fans seem to agree. With wild light shows and ear-shattering beats, this show will be fantastic for both seasoned and new ravers to experience.

  1. Basstrack is being hosted at the Phoenix Raceway

Basstrack Festival will be happening at the Phoenix Raceway, located in Avondale. The raceway is home to many other huge EDM events and festivals in the valley, including events like Goldrush Festival, PHXLights Fest, and many others.

  1. Basstrack is promoted by Relentless Beats

Of the countless music and EDM festivals and raves that happen in Arizona, Relentless Beats is responsible for promoting over 400 different events and 500 artists, including the Goldrush Festival, Dusk Festival, and, of course, Basstrack, among many others. Whether you are a huge rave fan or just getting into the scene, it’s definitely a good idea to follow Relentless Beats on social media to stay updated on new events.

  1. Be Prepared and Have Fun at Basstrack!

While the rave scene can be new and even scary at times, at the end of the day, raves and festivals are meant for you to enjoy music, lights, and vibes with others. Make sure to drink plenty of water, get plenty of sleep beforehand, take a moment to learn about rave culture, and figure out things you can and can not bring beforehand. Dress cute and comfortably, take plenty of photos, and enjoy the show!

Basstrack will be between September 2-4 at The Phoenix Raceway. Find out more at Excision presents Basstrack Avondale Tickets.
