Chic Talk: ‘Tis the season for last-minute, but totally thoughtful holiday gift ideas

By: Madison Rowbotham

For the first time in my life, I started shopping for the holidays early. Something, in my 21 years of existence, I have never done. I mean, I did have an excuse when I was a child considering I didn’t have a steady job and macaroni art was my only valuable skill; putting on fashion shows with my grandma’s high heels was a close second.

As we head into this week, Christmas exactly one week away, I am still not done shopping. I know, I know. I’m just as confused as you are. I started so early, how could this be? Well, throw two families, an office party and friends in the mix and the shopping list just never ends. If you’re a shopaholic like me, you’re totally fine with it, but it can be stressful!

For those of you, like me, who still have countless gifts to purchase, breathe, and let’s talk through some ideas together! Here are some easy last-minute gifts, that are still totally thoughtful, for you to shop this week!

Bath Bombs are the perfect stocking stuffers! There are a plethora of options and scents to choose from, so you can tailor it to the person you’re shopping for! Your biggest struggle will be reminding yourself that no, you can’t keep it for yourself, well maybe….

My go-to place to shop these is Lush Cosmetics; a heavenly place that leaves you feeling relaxed… and broke because you bought 18 different ones to try. No shame, no shame. The intergalactic bath bomb is my personal favorite. Its featured ingredient is peppermint oil and it is to die for and oh so soothing!

Every girl needs a comfy pair of fuzzy slippers. Just because they’re typically only worn around the house does not mean they can’t be stylish! These faux- fur Steve Madden slides are drool-worthy and are anything but boring! I have these on my Christmas list and they’re far too fabulous to be only worn around the house- I plan on taking these babies out.

I was at lunch with a friend who wore hers out and a waiter (not ours) came up to our table to compliment her on how much he loved them. They are definitely a head-turner and anyone would be thrilled to find these wrapped underneath their Christmas tree.

Jewelry is difficult when you don’t know someone’s taste, but who wouldn’t love a personalized pendant necklace? Kate Spade makes these delicate ‘one in a million’ initial gold-plated pendant necklaces that are the perfect gift to show someone how much they mean to you! Simply choose the initial of the person you’re shopping for! Personalized, thoughtful and adorable!

If you’re a coffee addict like I am, you know that you can never have too many mugs! Any person with a love for a good holiday brew will appreciate one. Find one with a personalized message or a fun design that compliments that person! The mug will be used and they’ll appreciate that you took the time to find one that suits them. I have a collection of them from Anthropolgie, but you can find cute ones at any store in the mall!

Anthropolgie even has the perfect compliment to the mugs, hot chocolate on a stick. Simply mix in the stick with steamed milk, and you’ve got yourself a warm cup of hot cocoa to cozy up with.

Candles are another great holiday gift go-to. Like mugs, you can never own too many. Everyone likes different scents, so this is where your memory and listening skills come in to play. Remember that one time you were baking and your mom said she loved the smell of vanilla? Well, she’d probably love to add a warm, buttery vanilla cupcake scent to the collection. Pick one you think that person will like!

I’m a huge fan of the ones from Bath and Body Works. ‘Caramel Woods’ is at the top of my list, but you can choose from scents like ‘Creamy Nutmeg’, ‘Frosted Cranberry’, ‘Mahogany Teakwood’ and more!

No time to shop online? No problem. You can purchase any of these in store and skip the expedited shipping fees! Happy last-minute, but totally thoughtful holiday shopping!
