Healthy snack options for the busy student

It’s easy during the school year to get too busy to make a snack and then go straight for a bag of chips. Unfortunately, that starts to catch up with you and you could still be questioning why you aren’t at the weight you want to be.

I started facing this same problem, so I figured out some healthy snack options and meal replacements that were low price, not made from too many ingredients and still satisfying to keep me energized for the day.

A new trick I’ve come across from friends on campus is getting some avocados and pouring a little salt on one and eating the avocado plain. The fat in the avocado keeps my stomach satisfied for a few hours and keeps me energized.

Another snack option I love to make that’s very affordable is a homemade cheese quesadilla. I buy a bag of tortillas and get some shredded cheese, which you can find at any convenient store. It takes only a minute using the microwave and this tasty treat only adds up to about 250 calories. I like to add some salsa on the side to spice it up.

Peanut butter and bananas has become the rave on college campuses for a fast snack of protein. Conley Jones an ASU Freshman student has her own trick for a meal replacement.

“My new favorite breakfast meal is bananas and peanut butter. It’s a nice change up from just a regular peanut butter sandwich; it’s really a good combination together. The best part is it gives me a lot of energy.”

All of these options are easy to make and quite tasty. If any of you have any other healthy snack suggestions please leave a comment! A girl can’t pass up an opportunity to be healthy with spring break right around the corner.
