An unfamiliar number flashes across the screen of your phone and you anxiously scan through a mental list of who could be calling. You answer with hesitation and find that your future employer is on the other line. You hang up the phone with a smile stretching from one ear to another. You got the internship you applied for and couldn’t be happier.
As a newly employed intern, you have every intention of not only being the best, but also looking the best. You have a closet full of cute clothes, but they lack the professional luster they need to help you be at the top of your game. As every new intern ventures into the world of professionalism, there are a few must-have items that can make your outfit achieve both a level of professionalism and envious fashion:
1. Blazer.
A Blazer is an essential piece that truly takes your outfit from semi-casual to professional. Blazers are vital pieces of clothing in the world of professionalism and can be worn in a variety of ways.
2. Neutral colored heels.
Having black or nude colored heels is key in making your internship ensembles both cute and appropriate for a work environment. Plus, they can also be used for a fun night out after a long day on the job.
3. Lipstick.
It seems as though women have donned their favorite lip color of choice for years and as time goes on, a wider variety of colors have surfaced and you don’t have to just stick to the traditional red. Painting your lips with a fun, yet appropriate pop of color can truly take your outfit to the next level.
4. Bag/purse.
A nicely sized bag or purse is an important accessory to have as an intern. A bag or purse that is just the right size allows you to have all the necessary working materials safely packed into an adorable accessory. It is also a great investment, as you can use it for many other events, classes or important activities you will come across in the coming years.
5. Watch.
As a new intern, it is crucial to be on time. A nice watch will help you achieve timeliness and add a nice flare to your outfit.
6. Sock bun.
As a college student and working intern, life can become hectic. Some mornings will be tainted with late alarm clocks and messy hair from the previous day. When you’re in a hurry, but still want to look good, a sock bun is the perfect accessory to have. With the already made sock bun hair accessory, you can throw your hair up in a fast, yet adorable fashion.
7. Patterned pants/skirt.
Patterned pants have become more popular in recent months and are a great way to channel your more youthful, fun side without loosing that sense of professionalism.
8. Colorful flats.
Colorful flats are a great addition to every girl’s closet. Not only do they function as a more comfortable shoe of choice, but they can also provide your ensemble with that extra spice needed to set you apart from the ordinary intern ensemble.
8. Nail polish.
Nail polish is a great accessory to any outfit and will give you the manicured look you need for every hand you shake.
9. Bold Necklace.
The last item to have as an intern is a bold necklace. A bold necklace is the perfect solution for the days you pair your white-blouse with your black skirt and feel as though there is just something missing. A bold necklace can take your outfit to the next level and help you stand out.
These items are internship must-haves that will help you feel and look your best!
