Macarons at Phoenix Public Market Café

Phoenix Public Market Café has recently added some colorful macarons to its dessert display. These tasty treats come in various colors and flavors. For those who are unfamiliar with macarons, they are like a small fluffy cookie. They are hard on the outside, yet soft on the inside. Macarons come in various forms and variations. The macarons at the Phoenix Public Market Café come in four flavors: lemon, white chocolate vanilla bean, pistachio and salted caramel. The best part is that the macarons are in spring pastels! All four flavors look equally delicious and it’s hard to pick just one. I tasted each of the four flavors and ranked them, with 1 being my top choice.

Macaroons
  1. White chocolate vanilla bean macaron: After taking one bite I could immediately taste the vanilla bean in the filling. The white chocolate and vanilla bean compliment each other well. This macaron is for those who don’t like to stray too far from the traditional vanilla and chocolate.

  2. Pistachio macaron: I will admit that the main reason why this is my second favorite is because pistachios happen to be my favorite type of nut. Before trying it, I was a little skeptical. I thought that the macaron was going to be overwhelmed with a powerful flavor of pistachio. I was wrong though! The filling had just the right amount to identify the pistachio flavor. If you like pistachios, this macaron is the perfect one for you.

  3. Lemon macaron: This flavor is filled with the sweet and a little bit sour taste of lemon. Thankfully, the lemon filling was not too overpowering. I’m not too crazy about lemon-flavored desserts, but I enjoyed this one. If you happen to be a fan of lemon-flavored anything, pick this macaron.

  4. Salted caramel macaron: This flavor was my least favorite due to the fact that I don’t care much for caramel itself. The filling consists of thick salty caramel. I did not like the salty aspect either, but for those of you that love caramel I’m sure this macaron is the match.

All of the macarons are less than $2, which is perfect for a college student budget. You can try these spring themed macaroons at the Phoenix Public Market Café on 14 E. Pierce St.
