Yesterday was by far my favorite day of New York Fashion Week! The day was full lavish gowns and bold patterns, from the likes of Tory Burch, J. Crew, Badgley Mischka, Rodarte and Oscar de la Renta. Each designer took it upon themselves to present artful yet in-depth collections that left viewers in awe of the raw talent and beauty that prevailed in the looks!
Tory Burch
Timeless looks lined the runway during Tory Burch’s spring 2013 show – from the classic pencil skirt to the delicate full length gowns. A sense of royalty bursted from the seams of the ensembles, embodying a vibe of youth yet class. The youthful touches continued into the models’ hairstyle that was loosely braided, while their strappy heels added maturity to the looks.
J. Crew
I have a slight bias to this collection, being a devoted fan of Jenna Lyons, but I honestly feel she outdid herself for J. Crew’s latest collection of new age prep mixed with eclectic pops. The bold patterns are flawlessly mixed together to create a crisp yet adventurous image, of course in a polished J. Crew way.
Rodarte
For spring Rodarte brought textures to life through the pristine use of feathers, leather, chiffons, fringes and silks. The play on fabrics and textures added depth to the geometrically cut pieces. The intense collection was worn by equally serious and passionate models whose hair was styled in a sleek mannor while their make-up seemed to have a more delicate feel.
Oscar de la Renta
Oscar de la Renta is always an elaborate show, and the collection presented at New York Fashion Week proved that point yet again. From the bold colors to the alluring stripes, I could not take my eyes away. The models’ chalked hair was a fun twist to the gowns and Karlie Kloss’ closing gown just left me with goosebumps because of the beauty.
