It was a cloudy day in Paris on Wednesday and many of the dark colors shown on the runway emulated the hazy weather. Gareth Pugh, Thierry Mugler and Dries Van Noten all showed collections characterized by themed hues and unique silhouettes.
Gareth Pugh
Pugh, known for his outlandish designs, toned it down a bit for his fall Ready-To-Wear. Black and white leaves falling from the ceiling onto the runway were an elaborate start to his show. The models then appeared, sporting outfits made of fur, leather and fringe. Pugh kept the colors simple and showed only outfits with dark colors, his signature. Of Pugh’s designs, Vogue’s Emily Sheffield said, “He has a cult following and he’s very good at doing that dark thing and doing it well.”
Thierry Mugler
Mugler put on an impressive show of futuristic frocks. His ensembles were full of cutouts and neutrals, which seems to be a running theme in the Paris shows thus far. The models he sent down the runway were slick and androgynous, allowing his sharp clothes to be the focal.
Dries Van Noten
The Belgian-born designer showed a collection that was minimalist in structure but loud in color. Van Noten sent many different styles down the runway, ranging from skirts and tops, dresses, to pantsuits. The exquisite tailoring and unique prints made the show truly memorable.
