Phoenix Fashion Week ended with glamorous looks and a sold-out crowd Saturday. After three nights of collections by both established and emerging designers, Dolcessa was announced the winner of Emerging Designer of the Year. Phoenix Fashion Week has celebrated nine fashionable years, and we hope to see many more!
Established Designers:
Enzoani
Enzoani’s collection started the show on a formal note. The dresses were perfect for a bridal environment. The collection started with colorful, flowy dresses and ended the show with lacy, embellished wedding dresses, some of which were black.
Silvia Bours
The designer’s show-stopping dresses had a clear impact on the crowd. Her extensive detail and stunning embellishments matched the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack, made complete with models dawning masks. The feminininity of the dresses came out in pastel colors and crystal details.
Élevée
Élevée brought men’s fall clothing to Phoenix Fashion Week 2013, the first year to showcases men’s fashion. Elevee’s clothing, which is completely made in the U.S.A., displayed casual and formal clothing, including fitted pants and perfectly tailored jackets. A variety of suit jackets, from plaid to quilted leather, were made complete with elbow pads. The designer’s first model was his son!
Emerging Designers:
Doux Belle
Doux Belle’s collection took the crowd on a trip back in time with a collection of pure class. Accessorizing its 20s inspired dresses with feather and fur hats, Doux Belle showed the crowd chic vintage Hollywood looks at their finest.
Ja’ire
Ja’ire clothing is for the girl “who wanted to be noticed.” Bright colors and form-fitting unique shapes brought the designers’ exuberant personalities to the runway. Although the designs were extremely high fashion and unique, the fabrics seemed very soft and wearable.
Michelle Hébert
Michelle Hébert’s designs were clearly inspired by nature. Some of the clothing was even made with twigs and feathers. The designer stunned the crowd with her open-backed dresses and unique accents which included an atomical wooden spine on the back of one of the elegant dresses.
Trang Nguyen
The color palette was red and white, complimenting flirtatious and feminine dresses and skirts. The models wore ready-to-wear lace and floral. The music of Lana del Ray perfectly accompanied this collection.
Finale:
Rocky Gathercole
The long awaited finale didn’t disappoint. The dresses shown by the Filipino designer were works of art. The designer’s modern shapes and edgy cuts were innovative and stunning. Gathercole’s designs would fit perfectly in an art museum and embodied the innovation of Phoenix Fashion Week.
