Spring is just around the corner and you know what that means – it is cleaning time. For most people, spring cleaning can consist of the following: giving away the clothes you told yourself you were going to wear but never did and finally deciding to pick up the pile building up on the chair in your room.
All of these tasks are good ideas. They not only clean your space physically but can also clear up your mind.
For this year’s spring cleaning, try to implement a regime focusing on self care. On March 20, the first day of spring, we will be four months into the new year. Use this as a time to reflect on what has happened and what you wish to accomplish for the remainder of the year.
Visualize Your Goals
Maybe your New Year’s resolution is not going as planned. Maybe a week into your
Look to Your Surroundings
With your goals, find inspiration through what is around you. Try to surround yourself with positive influences and energy in order to accomplish what you set out to do. This will allow you to see the glass half-full rather than half-empty. Appreciate those around you who will support you and cut out those who affect you negatively. If you constantly have negativity around you, your efforts will feel hopeless. You will only be seeing the pessimistic side of your situation. Surrounding yourself with negative people can change your attitude and affect you both emotionally and mentally. By removing toxicity, you will be able to declutter your mind. You will finally be able to realize your goals without being pulled down by the naysayers.
Try Something New
Do not be afraid to go out of your comfort zone but by no means am I saying to do something dangerous. Instead, adopt a healthy habit or pick up a hobby you have always wanted to try. It could be something as simple as going for a 15 minute jog every Sunday. Regardless, do something that will better your person. For example, this spring I am planning on practicing yoga. Both my sisters are avid yogis and my mom just began taking classes. I want to be able to take part in the activity they enjoy, and eventually come to love it as much as they do. It may seem overwhelming in the beginning, and you may want to abandon what you set out to do, but in the end, the results are worth it. Think, if you start now, you will only get better in time.
