Sun Devils Wear Prada

Wednesday fashionistas from Arizona State University gathered for a runway show, styling tips and of course fabulous freebies!

The evening began with a red carpet moment, where guests were able to pose for fun photos with their friends. Guests were then encouraged to move around to different booths from sponsors such as Tony and Guy, Chanel, Michael Kors, Betsey Johnson and more! Cupcakes and coffee were also offered as a pre-show treat.

Host Wendy Smith began a show with a video showing the image makeover given to ASU freshman Sarah Black. Black was given a new hairstyle and make-up regime from Tony and Guy and then was treated to a $200 shopping spree at Dillard’s where she was also able to implement the style tips given to her by world-renowned stylist and author, Shari Braendel.

Another image makeover was awarded to a guest at the end of the night through a drawing.

Braendel was then introduced to the stage where she gave tips on how to dress for your specific body type.

“When you dress, you dress your whole body. And always, the emphasis should be the face. Always,” Braendel said. Girls were invited up on the stage in order to illustrate what worked best to camouflage their not so flattering areas.

Braendel also gave pointers on what size bag is best for your body frame and what colors look best for different skin types and coloring.

After a short intermission, the runway show began. Arizona State students modeled the spring fashions from Dilliard’s with amazing hairstyles from Tony and Guy. Baendel announced the show, repeating why the looks worked for each girls based on her earlier pointers.

All of the guests left with swag bags and were invited to participate in a Shop Off at SanTan Mall in Gilbert on the following Saturday.

Sun Devils Wear Prada allowed girls interested in fashion to receive personal advice from a stylist, connect with amazing sponsors, win prizes and meet others with similar, stylish interests!
