According to SDWP mentor and member Hillary White, this was the first year that they had a pre- show that featured apparel from the official Sun Devil Campus Bookstore. The show featured real ASU students. “Our high energy fashion show features about 20 student models representing different organizations around campus,” White said. The outfits that graced the runway were created “for events girls would go to on or around campus, for example going to class, working out, going to a tailgate, or going out to dinner.”

After, founder Wendy Smith spoke out to the crowd about how she had a vision to “inspire ASU women to reveal self-worth through personal style” and Sun Devils Wear Prada was created.

Stylist and author Shari Braendel also spoke at the event and gave many helpful tips on how to dress for one’s skin tone, body type, and hair color. She explained what works best for each by bringing up people in the audience that represented each category so the audience could see first hand. She didn’t just give tips; she wanted girls to truly believe that “You are worthy. You’re beautiful in the body you’re in.”

The final and main event of the night was a JCPenney fashion show that featured a variety of looks and different styles. Whether petite or tall, athletic or girly, there was something for everyone out on the runway!
