Your Quick Tips to the Perfect Halloween Costume

Halloween 2012 is here. If you still don’t have a costume and want some hot and fast ideas, consult this post. Each look is relevant to 2012 pop culture and can be designed on a dime.

Toddlers and Tiaras

2012 has been the year of Honey Boo Boo. Whether or not you love, hate or love to hate the TLC show, everyone knows about it and is sure to recognize this costume right away. Craft a tutu by tying 12 inch by 2 inch strips of tulle fabric onto a ribbon cut long enough to tie around your hips. A plastic tiara can be purchased at any costume store or a dollar store. For a sash, cut the bottom of an old white t-shirt and put a fun title on it with fabric paint. Pink lipstick is necessary. Mountain Dew is optional.

Catwoman

Who could forget Anne Hathaway’s villainous role in “The Dark Knight Rises”? Even more memorable was her skin-tight cat suit, utility belt, eye mask and cat ears. This look could still be easily accomplished with black leather leggings and a black tube top. For the ears and mask, purchase some black felt and ribbon at the craft store. Cut out an outline for two ears and a mask and hot glue or stitch it onto the ribbon to make a headband and a mask.

Bond Girl

With this costume there are a variety of looks to choose from. “Skyfall” will be the 23rd James Bond spy film and each film features its own sassy and sultry Bond Girl. For a standout look go as Jill Masterson from “Goldfinger” (1964) buy some tight gold lamé leggings and a top and paint on metallic gold makeup. For a more subdued look, go as the “Casino Royale” Bond girl in a slinky black dress and diamond jewelry. Don’t forget a (fake) weapon of choice.
