Paris Fashion Week | Recap of Oct 2 Shows
As Paris Fashion Week (almost) comes to a close, some of the most well-known designers hosted editors, buyers and tastemakers for a true delight. One of the most anticipated events, the Alexander McQueen show, proved to be as wild as ever, further cementing Sarah Burton’s status as the perfect successor to the brand. Chanel, Valentino and Paul & Joe also put on spectacular shows, as is expected by such iconic brands.
Chanel

Black and white were the most popular colors throughout the Chanel show. Looks also featured polka dots in both print and texture, as well as pops of saturated red, blue and green. With 81 looks in the collection, Lagerfeld offered up a wide array of feminine styles and fabrics throughout the show.
Valentino

Luxurious leather, chiffon, wool and lace were featured throughout the Valentino show. The dresses had a Victorian aesthetic, with high collars, modest hemlines and prim details. Although it was the spring 2013 collection, the colors had more of an autumn feel, with lots of black, burgundy and beige.
Paul & Joe

The Paul & Joe show took on an androgynous tone from the very first look, featuring an array of blazers, button-up shirts and trousers. Bright and playful patterns helped to add a fresh and youthful quality to the looks, with an array of stripes, florals and checkers.
Alexander McQueen

The Alexander McQueen show had many notable characteristics, the most dramatic being the outlandish hats, bold patterns and unconventional silhouettes. The dresses had feminine accents, such as corsets and plunging necklines. The ball gowns at the conclusion of the show were breathtaking, with full skirts and flowers made of beautiful fabric.
